Report: Lake Two remained “iced over” on Wednesday, the match was put back one day to Thursday on the Fishery’s suggestion.  Unfortunately, several anglers could not fish that day, although those that did all caught fish despite the bitterly cold and crystal-clear water, and the cold and foggy start.  However, it was sunny in the afternoon when the temperature rose to 3C.
The payout was to the overall winner and then the winner of the other bank (A&B).

Despite the cold and uncomfortable start (there was still ice lingering in places) nearly everyone caught fish (on bomb and bread) in the first hour or so, with the final 2 hours (when the sun shone) being the most barren time.

Dave Alewood on peg B19 and Tony Lamb (B13) both caught two carp in the first 30 minutes, then no more, although Tony added several big perch on pole in the latter stages. Next to catch a carp was John Adamson (A20), who landed a double about 25 minutes in, followed by two more after another 30 minutes, then Peter Stockwin (A15) had his first.

John Adamson (A20) caught two more carp (in successive casts) after 3 hours on corn to seal the win with 33-05, Tony Lamb’s carp and perch catch weighed 23-00 for second place (and to win the B bank), with Peter Stockwin’s two carp and a bream for 15-02 from A15 taking third place, followed by Dave Alewood (B19) who had 10-08 and Phil Hunt (A12 again!) with one carp for 8-04.

Hopefully – back to normal next week with a Wednesday match on Lake Two (with Lake Four if required).

NB.  Nisa Opens are held most Wednesdays on Lake Two at Makins Fishery (see Facebook "Nisa - midweek open matches" to book a place).
