Report: As the Café was closed for deep cleaning, the draw was held in the Lake Two car park on a cold, windy, dull day with a little drizzle.  That was the best of the weather, for as the day progressed the NW wind increased, and we had to endure rain, hail storms and an even further temperature drop.

As usual, the payout was to the overall winner and then the top two (by default) on each side of the lake.

Wayne Heywood on A20 was practically facing the wind and rain for most of the day.  However, casting his method feeder towards the island he caught carp throughout the match to end with a winning 71-07 to collect the main pool.

The battle for second place was fought on the pole, from pegs that were practically opposite on each side of the lake, both with a “side wind”.  Lloyd Hales (peg B19) started on the method feeder for very little but fed a pole line as a backup.  After a while he tried his pole line and found that fish were there and prepared to feed, but as the wind increased, he found presentation difficult, but managed to feed the fish shorter.  In spite of losing several fish in the gusting wind, his 65-10, taken on pellet bait, was enough for second place, taking first prize on the B bank.

On peg A14 (the same peg as the previous week’s match) Paul Reynolds concentrated mainly on the pole (excepting a few casts on his bomb rod), and sneaking in fish regularly he accumulated 64-04 for third overall which took first (by default) place on the A bank.

Fourth place (and second on the A bank) went to Rich Reeve (peg A18) who totalled 54-07 of method feeder fish, with Paul Slatcher (peg B10) taking fifth overall (and second on the B bank) with 49-11.  Paul caught a couple of small carp on the method feeder in the first 5 hours, then added the bulk of his fish in the final hour fishing corn (on the pole) in his margins.  He also said he lost several big fish which cost him dearly.

Many thanks to Paul Reynolds and Lloyd Hayes for their scales work in the rain, enabling everyone to make a quick “getaway”.

Next week, the draw should be back in the café at the usual time (9:00am).

NB.  Nisa Opens are held most Wednesdays on Lake Two at Makins Fishery (see Facebook "Nisa - midweek open matches" to book a place).
