Thrill rides and stalls will be taking over streets in Erewash barely a month after Ilkeston’s 772nd charter fair – as November sees Long Eaton host its Chestnut Fair.
Although nowhere near as old as the borough’s more celebrated street fair, the three-day spectacle again promises to be just as much fun for all the family.
The Chestnut Fair runs from Thursday 21st November to Saturday 23rd November – with road closures starting from Monday 18th November at 6pm and lasting until midnight the following Sunday.
Rides and stalls will stretch along the High Street through to the Market Place. The Beaconsfield car park will be closed to the public.
Crowds will be gathering on the Thursday from 5:45pm to see Erewash’s Deputy Mayor, Councillor Harry Atkinson declare the fair open.
Organised by Mellors Group, it is one of the final big street fairs of the year – but not quite the last hurrah for travelling showmen in the borough.
Erewash Borough Council Deputy Leader, Councillor Becca Everett, who is also Lead Member for Community Engagement, said: “The family-friendly Chestnut Fair in Long Eaton is a great opportunity to get in the festive mood. If you love white-knuckle rides, hook a duck and candy floss don’t miss out.”
