Erewash Borough Council is seeking the views of blue badge holders over the £25million Town Deal that is poised to transform Long Eaton Town Centre.
Those who park on the High Street are invited to take part in a consultation. This is ahead of the pedestrian area being revamped.
Proposals for the project – which is being delivered by Derbyshire County Council as the local highways authority – are in the detailed design stage.
Almost 200 blue badge holders who currently park on the High Street were contacted throughout March to let them know that work is scheduled to start early next year.
They were asked where they would like additional alternative disabled parking to be provided to minimise disruption during this time. The majority of people who responded said that additional disabled spaces in Beaconsfield Street and Claye Street car parks would be the most useful.
The improved parking provision will be made available before the works start, with a view to making it permanent. Blue badge holders can give their views via longeatontowndeal.org, and more directly, on a specific response page.
Erewash Borough Council helped to secure £25million of government levelling-up investment from the Town Deal Fund for regeneration projects in Long Eaton.
Other improvements include refurbishing the former Stable Block attached to the town hall. This is being converted into office space.
New lighting is being installed at the town’s West Park – where a new waterfront will complement a replacement bridge.
