The Long Eaton and District Arts Council which runs the Chatsworth Arts Centre and Duchess Theatre in Long Eaton has been awarded grant funding of £5,000.

The money will be used to upgrade the theatre auditorium’s house lighting system to an energy efficient LED based system, and has been awarded as part of a wider funding scheme from the Theatres Trust “Small Grants programme, supported by the Linbury Trust”.

The local arts council is one of fourteen recipients in the current round of funding which totals over £64,000.

Vice-chairman of the executive committee for the venue, Dave Dallard, said: "We are so grateful to have been awarded this grant funding from the Theatres Trust Small grants programme, supported by the Linbury Trust. Not only will the new lighting system reduce energy consumption by almost 70% within the theatre auditorium, it will also provide a better-lit environment for all who come to the venue.”

The works to upgrade the lighting system will take place during August, alongside a much larger project which will see the upgrade and replacement of the heating and ventilation systems in the theatre auditorium.
