The Independent Candidate for Erewash appeals for YOUR vote

Erewash Election 2024 candidates

John Kirby has issued a statement in his bid to become an Independent MP for the Erewash constituency.

Describing himself as 'an independent, Liberal-minded Conservative soul with a Socialist heart, tinged with a Green outlook', he described Erewash as "a region with a mix of urban and rural areas, encompassing towns like Ilkeston and Long Eaton. It is an area known for its community and has so much potential. It deserves good representation in the House of Commons to put its case for the benefit of its people."

Mr. Kirby said that is standing as an independent because he wants to represent the people and businesses of Erewash, adding that everyone needed to reach their potential and that growth would "drive forward better services as a community", and calling for "better support for local businesses"

He continued: "We need something different; we need someone with a local voice to stand on the national stage and speak up for our region. By voting independent instead of getting a party politician who follows the whip & 3-line whip of a party, party first, and you will get someone that will put you, your business, and Erewash first."

Penultimately, he said that all he could do was promise to do his best by constituents and signposted members of the public to his first pledge, described as 'giving back locally', his eighth about VAT and the High Street and his ninth covering banking that he said affects so many people, as well as SMEs - Small and Medium Enterprises.

Finally, he used his statement to appeal for financial support for his campaign adding: "Democracy is not cheap but it is valuable; please support me if you are able and willing. The target will soon be raised if businesses donate between £5 and £100.  Under the rules in Erewash, the spend per candidate is £19,852.64".
