With schools returning for the new academic year, Police officers in Erewash have issued a timely reminder to parents embarking on or returning to the stresses and strains of the school run.

Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team representatives took to social media to remind parents and carers to park responsibly around schools and pay particular attention as to whether they are parking across driveways or entrances to private properties, obstructing the pavement, stopping within a pedestrian crossing area, within a zig-zag or school marked area or within a bus stop or parking on or at a junction.

A statement said that such restrictions apply to ensure the safety of children and minimum disruption to the local householders, not to inconvenience parents and carers.

Emphasising the risk taken by anyone choosing to ignore the restrictions, and calling for people to stay safe, it said that local officers and parking attendants can and will issue tickets to those drivers that fail to comply with the rules.
