A Long Eaton Police officer has attended an open air event in the town centre in honour of Merchant Navy Day which was held on 3rd September.

PCSO Pierpoint was present for the occasion at which a service was led by the Reverend Sam Treadwell at War Memorial on the Market Place.

The service saw the Reverend saying prayers and thanksgiving for Seafarers for those who work at sea and those that have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Members of the public stopped to pay their respects and all in attendance observed the one-minute silence at 11am.
