A new venture has opened up in Ilkeston to collect donations for new properties which are being provided to house the homeless or clients needing supported living.
Positive Futures is a registered community interest company, run on a non-profit making basis, set up in March 2020. The organisation currently has accommodation in Erewash for 16 people, and works with clients that suffer with mental health issues, drug or alcohol addiction, self-harm, suicidal tendencies, depression, have multiple personality disorders, suffer with schizophrenia. Positive Futures also works with ex-offenders.
An appeal has been issued for donations of furniture, beds and bedding, ornaments, pictures and household appliances to equip nine houses for new occupants.
Spokesperson Wendy O'Toole told Erewash Sound that the aim was to offerr good quality long term housing and support. She said: "Most of our clients need support to carry out daily duties like cooking washing and attending appointments with GPs or hospital and general day to day tasks. Our Core Values are Passion, Integrity, Commitment, Inspire, and Believe, our aim is to help the community by promoting clients abilities and support them to lead an independent life. We run group therapy sessions and daily activities and support the clients to join voluntary work if they engage."
Anyone able to help support the venture at this time should call Wendy on 07825 736822, e-mail wendy.otoole @ pfshousing.co.uk or visit www.pfshousing.co.uk.
