Parkside High Community Interest Company (CIC) has been granted a new 25 year lease for its base at Abbotsford Pavilion in Ilkeston.
Erewash Borough Council agreed the lease at its Executive meeting on 7th June and also approved substantial funding to help Parkside with building improvements at the site
The new lease replaces a seven year lease that was in place until 2027 with the granting of the 25 year deal giving Parkside High a stronger platform and opportunities to apply to external funding bodies.
The organisation works across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire to support young people aged 8-18 years focusing in particular on helping their personal growth. They are looking to extend and build on their success in reaching the most excluded young people from all backgrounds.
Councillor Carol Hart, Leader of Erewash Borough Council, said: We applaud the valuable work that Parkside High does for young people in our community and beyond so we are delighted to be able to help them through this long term lease and by providing funding towards their improvement plans for the building. Their achievements so far are amazing and we are confident they will go from strength to strength. They are making a real difference to the lives of young and often vulnerable young people.
The organisation was launched in 2016 and its achievements include reaching 1,000 young people through the Streetside project; training 37 local young adults in volunteering and youth mentoring to improve their employability; turning a derelict allotment into a vibrant outdoor learning environment and working garden.
