Schools are set to benefit from a share of more than £9.6m for improvements funded by Derbyshire County Council.
The funding, if approved by the councils Cabinet later this week, would pay for improvements including window and door replacements, rewiring and playground resurfacing at more than 40 schools across Derbyshire.
The decision was due to be considered at a meeting on Thursday 28th July. Although plans have been revealed to increase capacity at five schools in the county, none of those five are in Erewash or serve children and parents in the borough. The details and locations of the 35+ other schools to benefit have not been issued.
Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Education Councillor Alex Dale said: Were committed to giving children in Derbyshire the best start in life and access to a high-quality education is at the heart of that.
The approval of this funding would not only allow improvement projects to take place but would also ensure that we are expanding schools in areas where we know there will be an increase in demand in the future.
Were incredibly proud of the hard work our schools are doing to improve education across Derbyshire, particularly in light of the last few years, and this vital funding would continue to support this work.
