Local animal charity launches festive fundraising appeal

RSPCA Derby has launched a fundraiser for the cats, dogs, rabbits and small furries who will be spending Christmas at their animal centre on Abbey Street this year.

The ‘Be Their Someone This Christmas’ appeal is running throughout December and RSPCA Derby is asking for help to make this festive season extra special for animals who have been rescued from cruelty, freed from neglect, or saved from a life on the streets.

The charity, which is entirely self-funded, is aiming to raise £3,000 to help make sure every animal in their care feels cherished and loved, and to ensure they can continue to take in animals over the festive period.

Lucy Bell, Animal Care Manager, said: “This year, dozens of animals will spend Christmas with us at the shelter, and for some it will be their very first holiday season in a safe, loving environment. You can help us provide care and kindness to animals who have nowhere else to go. Your generosity will light up their Christmas and remind them they are not alone.”

Penny Lockwood, Charity Manager, said: “Our branch is independently run, so we rely on direct donations to help hundreds of animals every year. Every donation, big and small, makes a difference to the cats, dogs, rabbits, and small furries who will be spending the holidays with our staff and volunteers this year.”

The fundraiser is live now and RSPCA Derby is encouraging everyone to get involved by donating, sharing the campaign on social media, and spreading the word through your networks and communities.
