On Saturday 18th May, St John Ambulance volunteers will be giving free first aid demonstrations at the Aquavista Watersides Ltd Support Centre, Sawley Waterside & Marina, Tamworth Rd, Long Eaton, Nottingham, NG10 3AE as part of the Spring Market.
Members of the public are welcome to drop by from 10am and learn some essential life saving techniques including Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and how to use a defibrillator.
There will also be opportunities to volunteer for the nation’s leading health response and first aid charities in a variety of roles. These include becoming a member of the Youth Team, working with Badgers (aged 5 to 10) and Cadets (aged 10 to 17) and helping them as they develop their skills as the next generation of first aiders. For those who wish to support the charity without training in first aid there are vacancies in a local team of fundraising volunteers, helping to support St John through public-facing activities.
Alison Cook, St John’s Community Fundraising Manager whose territory includes Nottinghamshire, said: “We have some great opportunities in Nottinghamshire for people to volunteer as members of the Youth Team or to start in one of our all-new Community Fundraising Volunteer roles. First aiders from our Pinxton unit will be on hand to give some demonstrations of life-saving first aid techniques and can also talk to visitors about what it is like to volunteer with St John and help us with our aim of keeping people safe in the community. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.”
