Ilkeston company funds local Primary School well-being space

An Ilkeston-based company has made a donation to a local school in response to pressures faced by children in the last few years which have affected their routines.

Ron Brooks liaised with Toyota Motor Manufacturing to help fund and create a well-being space for the children at Scargill Primary School to use to spend time away from the daily stressful demands and to be able to relax in a safe peaceful surrounding.

£1,600 was donated to help build the new space, complete this June, ready for everyone to enjoy the summer months.

MD, Kevin Slack, stated: “To be given the chance to help Scargill School and the children in our local community is another proud moment for us and one we want to continue into the future with Toyota.  Scargill C of E Primary School is at the heart of the local community, so it was an ideal practical project aimed at achieving durable change in the community."

Mr Hetherington, Executive Headteacher shared his thoughts: “I would like to thank Ron Brooks & Toyota for this very generous donation, which has enabled us to continue our work to provide a calm, reflective and peaceful space for our children to use. We hope this will be something we can continue to add to and develop for the benefit of future generations of Scargill children”.

Workers, staff and all involved in the project are looking forward to seeing the children using and enjoying the space.
