The hunt is on to reunite a tame raven which has an identifying ring around a leg and may even be from a Royal residence!
The bird was spotted in West Park, Long Eaton by a member of the local Natural History Society but is thought to have been in the area for around a week, accompanied by what has been described as 'crow bodyguards'.
Expressing hope that it could be quickly reunited with its owner and seeking help from Erewash Sound, Honorary Secretary for the Society, Marion Bryce said: "It will eat out of your hand but attacks you when you run out of food.
It waits for the children to come out of school and they feed it with pizza. Maybe with your publicity, it could be returned to its owner."
She added that officials from the British Trust for Ornithology have confirmed that the bird is captive-bred. Marion also said that it has a ring around a leg with a number on it - 0783112110733 SP - with research by a friend indicating that a raven has been reported as missing from the Tower of London..
Marion added that the Long Eaton raven has been reported to Tower officials, in case it is one that belongs to them, but in the meantime, expressed concern that the bird could be attacked by a dog or fox.
