Patient watchdog Healthwatch Derbyshire is asking parents and guardians of children aged three and under for their views about child flu vaccinations.
Working with Derbyshire County Council’s Public Health team and the NHS, they want to find out how future child flu campaigns can be improved so that messages can be tailored and support services put in place to address any concerns or barriers parents may face.
The children's flu vaccine, usually administered as a quick and painless nasal spray, helps protect against flu which can lead to more serious illnesses such as pneumonia. It is offered to children aged 2 to 3 years, school-aged children (Reception to Year 11) and children with certain long-term health conditions.
Kirsty Ball, Head of Vaccination and Immunisations at the Integrated Care Board, said “We are always looking to improve how we do things. It is important for us to understand how families make decisions about vaccinations so that we can offer the right kind of support.”
