Futures recognised for work in the community with award

East Midlands based housing association Futures Housing Group, has been recognised for the support it gives to the community with an award from a local charity.

Futures received the ‘Partnership & Community Award’ at Salcare’s charity gala evening where local and national organisations were congratulated for their work.

Salcare is a well-established charity which has been helping the community of Amber Valley and beyond since 1977, and Futures often refers its customers to the organisation due to the wide range of services it offers – this includes a food bank and pantry, domestic violence and family support, debt advice and a community café.

The award has been a real team effort from colleagues at Futures as the housing association has supported Salcare with several projects this year, including the welcomed reopening of its community café. Futures played a pivotal part in this and worked with partners to buy and install a new cooker after the café had been closed since Covid. The café now serves as a warm space for people to socialise and buy affordable meals.

Futures also decorated Salcare’s premises on its ‘Futures in the Community Day’ in December last year and chose the charity to receive a share of a £7,000 donation from its gas servicing contractors.

Jacqui Bell, Director of Services at Salcare said: “Futures are deserving winners of this award and have been instrumental in supporting us to deliver some of our key projects. We’re really grateful for their ongoing support and look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.”

Janene Haywood, Community Engagement Project Delivery Officer at Futures said: “It’s a brilliant feeling to be acknowledged for this and we’re so thankful and proud to be recognised for the work we’ve been doing with Salcare. It really shows just how important it is that we engage with our communities and the impact that can be achieved when we work collaboratively with partners.”
