Erewash Sound station manager and HR Director, Jeff Martin said: We are delighted to have been recognised among a large number of other stations doing great work across the UK. This is yet more good news for Erewash Sound which has already enjoyed the successes of our first NCFE accredited students recieving their certificates, our fancy dressed superheroes raising over £300 for Treetops Hospice Care, the recent news about being granted a second frequency and transmitter to better serve Long Eaton and the south of the borough and being declared 'Best Local Commercial Radio Station in the East Midlands' in the SME News Midlands Enterprise Awards.
With these nominations, we will keep our fingers crossed for some more Community Radio awards from them next month which would follow successes over the last two years."
Previous award winners Jeannie Nicolas and Emma Snow have once again benefitted from being nominated. During the 2018 awards, Jeannie picked up 'Gold' for Young Presenter of the Year, whilst just minutes later, 2017 nominee, Emma Snow, collected 'Silver' for Entertainment Show then 'Bronze' for Female Presenter sparking wild celebrations at the Erewash Sound table in the auditorium.
Martin Steers, awards chair, said: "Now in their third year, the entries are getting better and better, and were really able to show off the diverse broadcasting that the countries stations undertake for the benefit of their communities. Every year I continue to be proud by the quality of the submissions and what they represent, the fantastic work that our community radio stations do in their communities
We wish Erewash Sound good luck and cant wait to host the ceremony in Barry in October.
