Driving the deal for Long Eaton

Three new leading roles have been launched by Erewash Borough Council to help drive forward the key projects in the £25m investment plan for Long Eaton over the next 10 years.

The council has confirmed it is stepping up its resources and wants to recruit three project managers who will spearhead the ambitious regeneration initiatives.

The town was awarded £24.8m by the government last year thanks to a bid put together by the multi-agency Long Eaton Town Deal Board, led by chairman Richard Ledger and vice chairman Councillor Carol Hart, Leader of Erewash Borough Council.

Now the council – which has been working on detailed business cases for seven projects – is looking to appoint:

A Highways Project Manager to oversee two major projects – the £5.6m redesign of the High Street and the £5.3m overhaul of the Long Eaton Green junction.A Development Partnerships Project Manager to focus on redevelopment ambitions for the town centre Galaxy Row and Box Office sites.

In addition, a Programme Manager will also be recruited to co-ordinate across all aspects of the projects.

Councillor Carol Hart, Leader of Erewash Borough Council, said: "This shows our clear commitment to driving these projects forward and to seize the opportunities we have to bring real and positive change for Long Eaton. Much hard work went into winning this funding – including vital support from residents and the business community – and these appointments will be an important step on the road to delivering some major changes for the town centre.”

Recruitment details of the three new posts, which will be funded from the £25m grant, can be found at jobs.derbyshire.gov.uk or via links from the County Council Facebook page.

Progress on the delivery of the projects is due to be submitted to the government this summer to trigger the release of the first wave of the funding.
