Residents and businesses in market towns and rural areas in Derbyshire have been given the opportunity to experience for the first time hyperfast broadband speeds thanks to two telecommunicatios companies.
Commsworld was chosen by FullFibre to provide a 100GB connection between the Derby Exchange and Telehouse North Two, Europes most advanced data centre in London.
This connection provides a step change in the capacity needed for people in the area, who are used to much slower internet speeds, to access much faster full-fibre broadband through their Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
The service provider managed to deliver the connection in just 18 working days compared to the industry norms of 45 to 90 working days. The process is known as a backhaul wavelength which links local exchanges to internet exchanges, boosting the speed and resiliency at which internet traffic can be carried.
The move is being seen as a huge boost to those in market towns in the county and other surrounding areas currently overlooked by incumbent network builders. It means the areas where it has already built its new networks can access this superior capacity, through their ISPs, immediately.
