DCG students complete coveted course to inspire next-gen filmmakers

Film Studies students based at Derby College Group’s Joseph Wright Centre have presented their original work which they have created as part of the BFI Film Academy course at a gala screening at Derby’s QUAD.

The group of 12 students were accepted on the prestigious course which has been run by QUAD alongside their level 3 College study programme.

Designed to better prepare them for their future careers, the course enables students to work with industry professionals in a series of evening and weekend masterclasses to develop their practical knowledge and skills across all roles in the film industry.

DCG Team Manager Sally Archer explained: “This has been an incredible opportunity for our students and we are delighted with the quality of their work.

“As well as broadening their skills in a wide range of industry roles, they have achieved a Silver Arts Award and will also become members of the coveted BFI Film Academy alumni with access to such events as BAFTA career talks, training masterclasses, paid traineeship placements at Pinewood Studios and jobs and exclusive residential programmes."
