ACE Personal Safety Training (non-profit) for females - based in Ilkeston

ACE Personal Safety Training is a small, family run, ‘not for profit’ organisation specialising in female personal safety, taught by female instructors.

Based in Ilkeston, instructors Jo Cox and Hayley Bentley provide simple and effective safety training to Women over the age of 18 years within the Erewash area. Funding has been awarded from both Tesco Community Grants and Derbyshire County Council.

The organisation is committed to providing quality training in a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment and the workshops are run by friendly and approachable female Instructors for the female participants.

ACE was set up as officials felt there was a need to raise awareness about personal safety issues, particularly those affecting women in today’s society.  This was with first hand experience of the devastation that can happen to someone when their personal safety is compromised, so the aim is that, if they can prevent just one person becoming a future victim of unnecessary violence or crime then they  have succeeded with their message.

The ACE team are passionate about Womens safety and are committed to doing what they can to address the many social and personal issues that arise within today’s society.

ACE stands for Awareness, Confidence and Empowerment. These are the objectives that officials aspire to provide and improve, for every workshop participant.  The logo was chosen as the ace is a universally recognised symbol and word associated with attaining excellence.

Within the Ace is a Phoenix rising. The Phoenix being the legendary firebird that rises from the ashes of its own destruction, symbolising new beginnings and fresh starts. The symbols were combined to make the ACE logo as together, both symbols depict the dream of the organisation. They strive to be the best at what they do in order to be able to help others to find their way to be safe, empowered and have increased confidence.

ACE advocates that ‘prevention is better than the cure’ .
